The Linden Club in the Community
Over the years we have developed ties with Stockdales, an organisation that supports adults and childreen with learning disabilities. Stockdales are based on Harboro Road in Sale, just around the corner from us. We have raised a considerable amount of money over the time we have supported them.
We also support The Christie Hospital in Withington and have run a number of events in recent years with the proceeds going to this worthy cause.
We have a good relationship with the local community in and around our home in Sale and invite our neighbours to a variety of events.
Trafford Council's Locality Partnership scheme has allowed us to initiate and implement an idea that will allow our neighbours to benefit from a useful resource with the proceeds going to charity. Through the Council’s 'Make Sale Smile' initiative we hosted an Allotment Produce & Plant/’Bring & Buy’sale on Sunday 6th September 2015 to which the community were invited and we are also offering for hire at a nominal rate a marquee which has been purchased using funds from the Partnership. The money raised from the event and from hiring the marquee will go to Stockdales. Want to know more?
We also encourage and support our members and others in the community in their efforts to raise funds for charity.
As an example we were pleased to host Steve Squire at the club recently in his efforts to raise money for the Epilepsy Society.
Steve, pictured below on our green with a colleague, is a bowler at Tonge Bowling Club in Middleton, Manchester and his challenge is to visit (and bowl at) as many crown green clubs as possible.
Have a look at his Epilepsy Awareness BOWLS Challenge facebook page for more details about Steve's and his club's efforts.
Best wishes to Steve and his colleagues.
