Welcome to our dedicated 2016 CHRISTMAS DRAW PAGE.
One of the biggest social events in the club's calendar, the Christmas Draw, will take place this year on the evening of Saturday December 10th and below you will find all the information you need to know about the event with links to further detail.  Just click on the highlighted text.

The event will be run similarly to last year’s and roughly in line with this outline programme. John Goddard will MC the evening and provide the entertainment again. We’ll not give anything away but be prepared for some fun & games!

Admission to the evening is by ticket only.  Tickets are priced at £5 and are now available for sale at the bar in the club.  It’s always a popular event so we ask that, if you want to come along, you buy a ticket as soon as possible as this will help with catering and seating arrangements.

We're lining up some great prizes and, as we continue to sell draw tickets, we'll be investing in them further.  We expect to have the usual range available although we are focussing more on festive prizes (e.g. mini hampers, presentation packs) and less on electrical/kitchen/homeware items.  Also we are aiming to increase the quality of prizes with some in the £20 to £30 range in addition to the few, more expensive, Star Prizes.  At the same time we aim to maintain similar volumes as last year although we are hopeful that we can increase the number but much will depend on ticket sales of course. All the prizes including those in the raffle will be laid out on the snooker tables and we aim to improve on last year's display.

At 50p each Draw tickets will be available for sale until a day or so before the event.  In addition there is still time to commit to a Standing Order for a minimum number of 20 tickets.  If you do pledge to buy this amount, or more, your name will be entered into  the Advance Draw currently being held every Friday night up until the end of this month.

We will soon be selling football cards with the lucky winner receiving 40 draw tickets. You’ll need to be in the club to take part, of course.

We will also be running our popular Turkey Draw during the evening.

As in previous years we are appealing to members to donate prizes to the draw and/or to the ladies & general raffle. There will be a poster on the notice board in the club so that you can do this.

When you’re in the club keep your eye on the notice board for further information and ask any member of the committee if you have any questions.  Or you can use the Contact Page

Programme
Seating

This is the programme for the evening.

Some items and their sequence may change before the night but it's unlikely.  We ask that people arrive at 7:30 and the aim is to finish the formalities of the evening before midnight.

Seating Arrangements.

Last year we established a seating plan in advance based, in the main, on the numbers of people in the various parties who were attending.  It worked well and we will be doing the same this year.  Dave Evans will be making the arrangements again so, once you have bought your tickets, please email him with numbers in your party etc and he will do his best to fit you all in together. The seating plan will be made clear to all on the night.

Prizes

Prizes We've Bought.

Below are some pictures of just a sample of the prizes we have bought so far.  There will be many more and although these can be considered a good cross section of what can be won there will also be as many as six Star Prizes with a value of up to £100 each.

Star Prizes

Star Prizes.

As last year there will be a luxury hamper, Trafford Centre vouchers and a selection of superior wines in a wine rack.  In addition we expect to have a quality watch (with a choice being made available) and, hopefully, two or three other star prizes available.  All these prizes will have a value of around £100 each.

Last Year's Prize Display

Draw Tickets

Standing Orders

As in previous years, we are asking all members to commit to purchase a minimum number of draw prize tickets.

If you are new to the club or you’re not familiar with the process of committing to a ‘Standing Order’ to buy tickets I'll explain broadly what it’s about.  The evening is primarily a social event at which a draw takes place for up to 200 or more prizes. The number of tickets we sell will determine how many prizes are on offer so it’s important for us to have a good idea of ticket sales before the event.  To do this we ask people to commit (or pledge) to buy them in advance. Tickets cost 50p each (we don’t sell physical tickets, we just allocate numbers).  Those who buy tickets are allocated numbers at random and numbers & corresponding names are published on a series of sheets – 300 numbers per sheet – and fed into the computerised draw programme which is run on the night. We aim to fill 20 sheets in this way i.e. 6000 tickets (numbers) and ask that you pledge a specific amount per sheet. As previously mentioned, if you pledge 50p per sheet you get 20 numbers in the draw, one per sheet, and it will cost you £10.  If you pledge £1 you get 40 numbers at a cost of £20.  And so on.  If you are willing to commit please talk tto any member of the committee are ask the steward when next in the club.  Alternatively you can email Ian Sharpley who will ensure that your commitment is logged.  If you have already pledged an amount you will need to pay as described above - just remember to write 'Standing Order' on the envelope.

Advance Draw

As an added attraction and in order to a) prompt early pledges to Standing Orders and b) generate a wider interest in the event we will run a ‘mini draw’ on each Friday night in the run-up to the event starting on the 28th October. All those who have, by the end of the previous day, pledged to a Standing Order will be entered in the draw.  Three names are being drawn out at random each Friday and those who win will be given a draw prize.  Here's an update on the winners so far:

Friday 28th October: Ted Farrer, Barry Buckley & Peter Williamson

Friday 4th November: Lew Palmer, Carl Sharpley, & Kathryn Dyson

Friday 11th November: Barry Fletcher, Ian Smith, & Dave Saunders

Friday 18th November: Isla Palmer, Lesley Tarnowski, June Watling

Each of these winners along with others to be drawn on subsequent Fridays (there will be 15 lucky people in total) will be allocated their prizes on the night of the draw.

Donating Prizes

The generosity of members in donating prizes for the Draw is always greatly appreciated.  If you wish to contribute this year please add details to the list on the events notice board near the bar in the club and bring the prize in at some time before the night. If you want to specify which of the 3 draws your donation goes to (either the ladies raffle, general raffle or the main draw) you can indicate this on the list. Alternatively you can email lewpalmer@sky.com with details.  Just remember to bring the prize in before the night!

Last year 37 prizes were donated and we estimated the value of them to be approximately £600.  A fantastic gesture from our members!

Turkey Draw
Donating Prizes

Turkey Draw

As a seperate attraction on the night we will select at random 4 lucky winners of a turkey crown. Eligible for the draw will be all those whdo have their names on draw sheets 21 and onwards. The intention is that all those members who, throughout the year, play snooker and challenge their opponents to 'Play for a Turkey' (and win, so their names go on the draw sheet at 50p a go) will be entered.  Any other names on these sheets will be entered apart from a) any Standing Order names that 'overflow' from sheets 1 to 20 and b) those whose names are on the sheets because they won a batch of tickets on a football card.

Football Cards

In order to promote draw ticket sales we are offering a prize of 40 tickets to the person who selects the winning team on a number of football cards that we will be taking around as we approach the event.  Neither the club nor anyone else takes a portion of the amount contributed.  Just 50p a team – must be worth a gamble!  When drawn the name of the winner will be entered on the latest ticket sheet against 40 numbers in sequence and the money collected - £20 - will go into the 'pot' to purchase draw prizes.

Draw Tickets

Although the Standing Order list for tickets will soon be closed you can also invest money in the

draw by filling in the sheet on the main notice board. And you will be able to do so up to a few days before the event.  Draw tickets are just 50p each and are available to members and non-members, friends or family.  After filling in the sheet please write your name and ticket number/s on the envelope provided, place the money inside, and deposit the sealed envelope in the box by the bar.  You don't need to be at the draw night to win. Your prize(s) will be safely stored and you will be notified so that you can collect it/them. If you are unable to get in the club before please email Ian Sharpley with details of the amount you wish to commit and he will ensure that your ticket numbers are placed in the draw. We are aiming to spend a record amount on prizes this year although this will largely depend on how successful we are in our push to sell tickets.
